Apstec® to Demonstrate Human Security Radar® (HSR™) the Unique and Compelling Solution for Protecting Crowded Places at Millipol Asia Pacific

Published on: 2019-03-01

London and Singapore, March 1, 2019 – today Apstec Systems® (Apstec®) announce that it will demonstrate Human Security Radar® (HSR®) the first fully automatic real-time mass people screening solution to visitors at Milipol Asia Pacific in Singapore April 2 to 4, 2019.

In 2017 South East Asia saw the highest number of deaths from terrorism since 2002, many of which were caused by mass casualty threats, including person borne improvised explosives devices and automatic firearms.  The majority of these attacks were carried out against the public in crowded areas.   The major challenge in protecting these areas has been the practicality of screening thousands of people an hour without causing massive disruption and secondary crowds in queues, which are attractive targets in their own right.

Apstec’s HSR™ was designed to address this challenge, and offers a practical and cost-effective solution to security screening. The walkthrough system uniquely combines unparalleled high throughput, speed and accuracy, simultaneously screening multiple subjects in real-time for mass casualty threats, concealed under clothes and in body-worn backpacks, without the need for an operator to inspect suspect materials.

Through supporting the free-flow of people, HSR both minimizes disruption and inconvenience for the public while improving security and helping to prevent terrorist attacks in vulnerable public places such as Airport terminal entrances, large events, stadiums, mass transit hubs, places of worship, government buildings, shopping malls and more.

Milipol Asia-Pacific is a leading international exhibition dedicated to homeland security in the Asia-Pacific region taking place on April 2 to 4, 2019 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Singapore. The event is focused on serving the Asia Pacific’s Counter Terrorism, Law Enforcement and Civil Defence communities to explore the latest developments and solutions. Visitors to Milipol Asia-Pacific will be able to view live demonstrations of HSR at Apstec’s booth as well as attend a presentation from Stephen Cooper OBE, Customer Solutions Director, Apstec Systems on the latest advances in high footfall screening approaches.

“Demonstrating HSR® at Milipol Asia Pacific gives us the opportunity to engage with partners, customers and stakeholders across the region in a very effective way”, said Johan Adler, Head of Asia at Apstec.“It enables us to build upon our significant progress in the region to date and showcase HSR’s unique capabilities to key security leaders and innovators”.
