Apstec® Human Security Radar® (HSR™) Improves Security for the G20 Summit

Published on: 2019-09-17

September 17, 2019, – today Apstec Systems™ (Apstec™) announces Kansai International Airport (KIX) has deployed Human Security Radar, the First Automatic, Real-time, Mass People Screening Solution to Enhance Security During the G20 Summit.

On June 28th and 29th, Osaka Japan played host to the G20 summit, the largest summit meeting Japan has ever hosted. The G20 in Osaka was attended by the heads of state of member countries as well as several invited guest countries and international organizations. Because of the many international leaders using Kansai International Airport (KIX) during the G20, the airport management company wanted to enhance security in the general landside areas and terminal entrances. KIX chose to deploy HSR for the event due to its unparalleled high throughput and ability to screen multiple people at the same time. HSR was installed at the entrance to the main terminal building which handles both international and domestic flights as well as at another domestic terminal to screen people entering the terminal buildings. Teikoku Sen-i Co. Ltd. Apstec’s Distributor in Japan managed the installation project.

“HSR is a unique high throughput free flow system and very interesting for the Japanese counter-terror forces as a means of credibly protecting public places from terrorist attacks.” said Masahiko Mikami, General Manager from Teikoku Sen-i Co. Ltd.

HSR provides seamless security for protecting public places from terrorist attacks. The fully automatic walkthrough system uniquely combines unparalleled high throughput, speed and accuracy to deliver the most effective mass people screening solution on the global market. HSR simultaneously screens multiple subjects in real-time for explosive devices and firearms hidden under clothes and in backpacks without the need for an operator to inspect suspect materials.

“We are pleased that HSR was successfully deployed at KIX during the G20 event to help then meet the challenges of ensuring public safety during such a globally significant event,” said Johan Adler, Apstec’s Head of Asia.
